What is the Best Range of Shading Ratio in Laser Particle Sizing ?

Shading ratio refers to the percentage of light scattered and absorbed by particles, which is used to represent the optical concentration of suspension in laser particle sizing.

Shading ratio = (I0 – Ii)/I0 x 100%. 'I0' is the original light intensity; 'Ii' is the light intensity at the detector center. Shading ratio is usually between the range of 10±5. In the actual particle size measurement, the best shading rate is the equilibrium point between the plural scattering and the representativeness. For this purpose, the optimal range of shading ratio is related to particle size. The larger the particles, the higher the shading ratio is.
